Senior Game Designer

Job Purpose:

• We are seeking a creative and adaptable Game Designer to join our team, specializing in designing games for very young target players (below 10 years old) on a big edutainment game reaching millions of players worldwide. In this role, you will be responsible for crafting engaging and educational gameplay experiences that align with client specifications and developmental needs of young children.
• You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that the games meet both creative and technical requirements, ultimately delivering high-quality products that captivate and entertain our youngest audience.

Main Responsibilities:

• Design and develop gameplay mechanics, levels, and systems tailored specifically for young children, ensuring they are intuitive, easy to understand, and enjoyable.
• Collaborate with client stakeholders, including educational experts, to integrate educational content and ensure alignment with client's learning objectives.
• Create and maintain game design documents, including concept pitches, feature specifications, and user interface designs.
• Prototype and iterate on game concepts to refine gameplay mechanics and user interactions, considering feedback from internal teams and user testing sessions.
• Balance gameplay difficulty and complexity to accommodate the cognitive and motor skills development of young players as well as the game economy.
• Adapt and modify game design elements based on client feedback and technical constraints, maintaining flexibility throughout the design process.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in game design, particularly focusing on games for young children, to continually innovate and improve our products.

Requirements

Skills & Experience:

• More than 3 years of experience in Game Design.
• Competent at English oral and written.
• Good understanding of the market and target audience of Mobile Video Games.
• Strong passion and solid video games background – knowledge of new market trends but also of retro gaming.
• Good understanding of the capabilities and benefits of different mobile devices hardware and platforms, as well as the relevant software technologies and techniques.
• Solid knowledge of Game Design including game mechanics, level design, and UI/UX.
• Experience of game reward system.
• Proven experience as a Game Designer or similar role, with a portfolio demonstrating successful projects, ideally including games for young children or educational games.
• Strong understanding of child development principles and how they relate to game design, including cognitive, emotional, and social milestones.
• Proficiency in game design tools and software, such as Unity, Unreal Engine, or similar platforms
• Creativity and problem-solving skills, with a passion for creating experiences that entertain and educate young children.
• Familiarity with principles of educational game design and gamification techniques.
• Knowledge of child-friendly interface design and usability considerations.
• Experience in collaborating with data researchers to design in a data driven mindset.
• Experience with AI tools for concept documents
