The Grants Manager assists in the overall management of the research and education grants process in support of Varian’s scientific and education goals.

Top Priorities and Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the disbursement of research or education grant funding according to the requirements of the grant process.

  2. Oversee the installation and maintenance of research equipment provided via in-kind-loan.

  3. Maintain department databases of active research and education grant projects.

  4. Manage all aspects of the grant review process including collecting technical and clinical applications by a set deadline, coordinating review requests with technical and clinical experts, arranging all meetings and compiling data to facilitate review and decision making by the Grant Review Committee.

  5. Organize and facilitate meetings with key technical and clinical opinion leaders (KOL) worldwide at the direction of the Director for Research and Education Grants for the purpose of discussing potential research and education healthcare collaborations.

  6. Organize and facilitate major research collaboration meetings at the direction of the Director of Research and Education Grants.

  7. Assist Medical Science Liaisons in customer relations relating to research and education collaborations (technical and clinical) at the direction of the Director for Research and Education Grants.

  8. Comply with all domestic, international and company policies, regulations and laws governing research and education grant funding.

  9. Conduct oneself in a professional manner consistent with Varian's cultural values

  10. Provides compliance reporting for open payments (Sunshine Act) or similar as needed for research and medical education grants

  11. Assists with project management as needed for initiating or implementing efficiencies or requirements for business process changes

Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively on technical and clinical topics with Medical Science Liaisons, Principal Investigators and Key Opinion Leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and maintain complex grant process and documentation. ·
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a complex organizational environment. ·
  • Remain current on all internal training plans specific to the assigned responsibilities. ·
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple simultaneous projects with minimal supervision. ·
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team. · Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications and the ability to quickly learn new software programs related to daily responsibilities. ·
  • Limited travel may be required.

Education -Qualifications -Professional Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in science, technology, or health-related fields is highly desirable. ·
  • Experience in a healthcare environment, preferably in a radiotherapy, interventional radiology, medical oncology or immunotherapy setting, is essential.
  • Experience in Medical Device or Pharmaceutical industries is highly desirable. ·
  • Previous experience with Investigator Initiated Grants or Educational Grants is highly desirable.

Desirable: · Experience with enterprise software applications such as SAP, Workday, and Salesforce/Unity is desirable.

The base pay range for this position is

Min $86,500 - Max $155,600

The pay wage range shown is based on the job posting's primary location. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications, and location.
