As an active member of our SHE&W team, you will assist in driving compliance and continuous improvement to ensure a strong culture of SHE&W excellence is upheld. You’ll contribute to the development and implementation of health, safety & wellbeing programmes and initiatives, supporting multiple stakeholders across our NZ offices.

This is a hands-on role, which will see you predominantly participating in office work with occasional field-based work, and travel to other AECOM offices when required.

What will a day in this role look like?

  • Working alongside our Principal SHE&W Business Partner and with our internal stakeholders to provide health and safety advice, planning, and risk management across a range of sectors and projects.
  • Coordinating and delivering SHE&W training e.g. Basic Risk Management, SWMS to employees
  • Managing AECOM’s return to work / injury management process
  • Promoting wellbeing initiatives and being the point of contact for all things wellbeing
  • Reviewing SWMS/safety documentation
  • Conducting internal safety management system audits and participating in external systems audits when required
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly safety performance reports

What are we looking for from you?

We are seeking a confident and collaborative Health & Safety professional who shares our passion for delivering high quality safety initiatives that can influence and engage with our people and clients, in our offices as well as, in the field. You’ll be a natural team player who can demonstrate:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Safety, Health or Environment and/or NEBOSH Certificate. NZISM Practitioner (or higher) would be ideal.
  • 3+ years' professional health & safety experience, preferably in a consulting environment
  • Health and safety training will be highly regarded e.g., incident investigation, health and safety auditing, return to work coordination, trainer and assessor
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders and influence at all levels
  • Fully competent in Microsoft Office i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook
