Job Summary:

CSA Group has an immediate opportunity for Product Safety Certifier in the Plumbing/Piping Group in Toronto, Ontario.

This role provides an opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects and provide high-quality certification services to meet clients’ needs. In order to succeed in the role, one should be able to interpret standards, make technical decisions based on engineering knowledge and principles, analyze and facilitate the execution of product testing and ensure compliance with CSA and other approved international regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the certification of plumbing/piping products in accordance with published CSA, ASTM, NSF and other standards
  • Lead multiple certification projects concurrently while ensuring high-quality deliverables within assigned timelines, budget and demonstrate strong commitment to Operations metrics
  • Adhere to company policies, operating procedures, quality guidelines and engineering techniques for active project management.
  • Provide technical support to CSA commercial unit in developing quotes, responding to client’s enquiries and support expansion of certification services for the plumbing/piping product line
  • Use technical knowledge to evaluate products in accordance with standard requirements by preparing test plans and construction review documents
  • Issue work orders and review test results and technical data to determine compliance with applicable requirements of standards
  • Prepare certification reports, certificate of compliance and other project related CSA documentation.
  • Provide regular project status updates to various stakeholders and collaborate with fellow certifiers, laboratory technicians and other departments on certification-related activities
  • Participate in Technical Committee Meetings and contribute to the development and implementation of new/revised requirements for the standards.
  • Conduct remote/on-site audits of client’s manufacturing and operating facilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or as required by Management and willingness to occasionally work overtime on weekends/statutory holidays

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering with 0-2 years job related experience or Engineering Technologist/Technician diploma, or
  • Certified Engineering Technologist/ Technician, Licensed Trades with 3-5 years of relatable technical/industry experience
  • Knowledge of Laboratory instrumentation, including operating principles and calibration procedures, as well as general Laboratory procedures
  • Understanding of various materials; Polymers/Plastics/Composites/Compounds would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of ISO17025/17065 and Plumbing/Piping standards would be an asset.

  • Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to work individually and within a team-based environment
  • Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, time and project management skills
  • Ability to maintain and improve customer satisfaction
  • Willingness to travel within North America and overseas as required by project/job assignment
