Job Description

The BI Analyst role involves designing and developing dashboards and reports using QuickSight, collaborating with stakeholders to understand data requirements, and transforming raw data into actionable visualizations. The role also includes using AWS services for data integration and management, providing training and support to end-users, and continuously improving processes and staying updated on the latest advancements in BI, data analytics, and AWS services.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Analysis and QuickSight Dashboard Development:

• Design and develop visually appealing dashboards and reports using QuickSight.
• Collaborate with data analysts, business stakeholders and BI Product Managers to understand data requirements, gather insights, and transform raw data into actionable visualizations.
• Use QuickSight to analyze large datasets, identify trends, and create interactive visualizations and dashboards that provide valuable insights into business performance and allow end-users to explore data and draw meaningful conclusions.
• Utilize QuickSight to develop interactive and visually compelling embedded analytics for end-users.
• Customize dashboards to meet specific business needs and requirements, incorporating advanced features such as drill-downs, filters, and dynamic parameters.
• Ensure that the data visualizations are user-friendly, intuitive, and aesthetically pleasing. Optimize the user experience by incorporating best practices in UI/UX design.

AWS Data Integration and Management:

• Utilize AWS services such as Amazon Redshift, Amazon RDS, and Amazon S3 to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources. Implement data pipelines and workflows to ensure the availability and reliability of data for analysis.
• Work closely with data engineers and data architects to ensure seamless integration of data sources into QuickSight, enabling real-time and up-to-date visualizations.
• Identify and address performance bottlenecks in data queries and visualization rendering to ensure quick and responsive dashboards.
• Optimize QuickSight dashboards and AWS infrastructure for performance and scalability. Implement caching, partitioning, and other optimization techniques to improve query performance and reduce latency.
• Ensure compliance with data security policies and governance guidelines when handling sensitive data within QuickSight.

Training and Support:

• Provide training and support to end-users and stakeholders on how to interact with and interpret visualizations effectively.
• Create documentation and training materials to facilitate knowledge transfer and adoption of best practices.

Continuous Improvement:

• Stay updated on the latest advancements in BI, data analytics, and AWS services. Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance efficiency and productivity.
• Keep up-to-date with the latest data visualization trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously enhance the quality and impact of visualizations.

What You Need To Succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

• Proven experience as a AWS QuickSight Engineer with a focus on AWS
• In-depth knowledge of Amazon QuickSight and its integration capabilities
• Strong understanding of cloud architecture and best practices
• Strong knowledge of data visualization best practices and principles
• Experience working with various data sources, databases and data integration
• Proficiency in SQL for data querying, data transformation and manipulation
• Ability to work with large datasets and design efficient data models for visualization
• AWS certification(s) is a plus
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and automation tools is a plus
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

• Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as in a team-oriented environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in data visualization, specifically using Amazon QuickSightExperience with the core AWS services, plus the specifics mentioned in this job description.
• Experience in front-end application development using Angular or MaterialUI/React.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Excellent Client management skills & ability to work independently without the need for directions.
• Working knowledge of AWS technologies including solid understanding of CloudWatch, EC2, S3, IAM, AWS Systems Manager, Event Bridge, AWS Cloud Formation Templates (CFT) and Lambda services.
• Working knowledge of AWS command-line interface (CLI) or SDKs for programmatic access to EC2 process data
• Experience with cloud-based software development tools and methodologies (Git, CI/CD, Code Deploy, Code Pipeline, etc.) is a plus.
• Software development experience in one or more software languages including TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, Python, HTML, CSS
• AWS Lambda / Server-less computing
• Familiarity with RDS & Aurora DB
• Amazon Quicksight for embedded use- cases.
