Job Description

The Project

Work on a high-profile infrastructure project as part of a global team, using continuous improvement methodology and innovative technology which enable us to leave a genuine legacy.

Southern Program Alliance based on the Frankston line is one of five alliances responsible for removing 110 of Melbourne’s most dangerous and congested level crossings by 2025 as part of Victoria’s Big Build transport infrastructure program.

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, Commercial and Finance the Cost Controller will prepare monthly financial statements and commentary for their allocated package, which may involve conducting analysis on actual, forecast and budget information for submission to finance and operations management. Conduct financial analysis contributing to the preparation of short and long-term forecasts, evaluating profitability and performance as directed.

Key Accountabilities:

• Monthly analysis of costs codes, actuals and accruals in the lead up to the end of month closure and Identify and investigate unusual trends
• Work closely with Finance Administration team to review suppliers’ costs incurred vs Payments to date
• Work closely with direct cost code owners to understand and assist with monthly forecasting and understanding and assisting with monthly quantity forecasting
• Assist with external audit queries on a quarterly basis.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Ideally tertiary qualifications in Engineering, QS, Finance and/or Commerce
• Exposure to civil Infrastructure highly desirable
• At least 3 years of experience in similar functions within a project environment
• Demonstrated experience in general finance and/or project accounting with knowledge of financial accounting and the applicable legislations
