Scientist, Drug Substance Control Strategy

Job Description

Vertex is seeking a talented scientist eager to help develop both cutting-edge small molecule pharmaceuticals and the science underpinning the analytical control of their syntheses. As a member of the Drug Substance Control Strategy team in Analytical Development this role will support drug development programs at Vertex with a focus on Drug Substance (DS) process and control strategy development. Working closely with a multidisciplinary group of analytical, synthetic and materials scientists the candidate will be responsible for developing new test methods, characterizing key samples from drug substance synthesis development, and collaboratively interpreting the data to develop robust and high-quality synthetic processes.

Candidates having a familiarity with developing and executing laboratory techniques commonly used in the analysis of pharmaceutical products, especially HPLC, GC, and IC, as well as a strong knowledge and understanding of organic chemistry principles, will be best equipped to succeed in this role.
