The Systems Administrator maintains, configures, and troubleshoots networks and computer systems. The duties include installing software and hardware, improving the performance of systems, and providing technical support to users.

Some of the important duties and responsibilities of a Systems Administrator include:

  • Evaluating and installing computer software, hardware, and operating system software
  • Troubleshooting the computer system and network issues of others
  • Performing server and information backups and recovery operations
  • Operating firewalls, file servers, and other computer systems
  • Continually monitoring systems performance and risks, and troubleshoot issues
  • Responding to user issues, concerns, problems, and inquiries
  • Support users using the supported tools

Required skills and qualifications

  • Ability to create scripts in Python, Powershell, or other languages
  • Knowledge of various business computer operating systems like Linux or Windows.
  • Experience with cloud environments like AWS and Azure
  • Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN), and patch management
  • Ability to communicate complex information to technical and nontechnical users, including management
  • Excellent communication skills
  • 5+ years of IT administration experience

Preferred qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of local area network administration
  • Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience
  • Experience with data (records) management
  • Experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information

  • Possesses knowledge of industry best practices and the ability to understand complex and advanced technical concepts
  • Ability to work collaboratively and quickly shift focus in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge and hands on experience with Atlassian tools like Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.,
  • Knowledge and hands on experience with Azure and Active Directory
