Intern Meteorologist

Priogen is an innovative Energy Trading and Portfolio Optimization company, based in Amsterdam. Our focus is on utilizing in-depth fundamental analysis to forecast the impact of renewable energy output on the power and gas markets. We have been growing rapidly in the European Electricity market on the back of the energy transition.

We are looking for an astute Intern Meteorologist To support the Meteo Team with improving weather forecasting tools and doing research on topics like AI weather model applications and (sub)seasonal forecasting.

What you’ll do:

As an Intern Meteorologist you will support the Meteo Team mostly on the research side. But also you will experience how it is to work as a (research) meteorologist at an Energy Trading Company. Your responsibilities involve:

• Supporting our Meteo Analysts building our weather forecasting tools
• Doing a larger scale research project regarding AI weather model applications and/or (sub)seasonal forecasting

Who you are:

• Finished your bachelor in physical sciences (preferably meteorology) and currently doing your Master in physical sciencesStrong interpersonal skills to communicate facts and challenge opinions in a logical, systematic manner.
• Strong analytical skills to comprehend large amounts of information and able to make decisions when information is limited.
• Fluent in Python
• Experience working in a UNIX environment
• Experience in atmospheric modelling is an advantage
