The Opportunity:

We’re looking for a Business Architecture Lead to join our Strategy & Business Transformation team.

Reporting to the VP, Business Architecture & Analysis, the Business Architecture Lead is responsible for working across Aviso and in partnership with business leaders to plan multi-year initiatives that develop core capabilities needed to support the strategic vision of the company. The role will help build out Now, Next, Later delivery plans in support of delivery execution, drive consistency and ensure capabilities are built to support the client journeys.

To do this the incumbent will work with Business Leaders, Service Design, Enterprise Architecture, and the Delivery organization to drive clear plans for achievement of business outcomes, capabilities build out and contribute to the development of the Business Architecture framework/discipline.

What your day looks like:

  • Partnering with executive level leaders within the business, technology, and delivery for our key strategic multi-year initiatives to define a clear path of how to sequence the work in support of achieving the target state journey while building out core capabilities needed within the organization
  • Contribute towards the development of the future state journey and supporting processes, business case development and once approved, contribute towards the initiation and planning phases of project execution
  • Support the definition, implementation, and execution of the business architecture processes
  • Understand and contribute towards the taxonomy and development of business processes and business drivers, business requirements, solutions strategies, alternatives, etc., being considered and/or implemented
  • Support the resolutions of inter-program and inter-project issues
  • Focus on results which could include projects that for example
  1. Maximize straight-through processing and minimize manual inputting and adjustments
  2. Simplify and consolidate applications with common functionalities, eliminate disparate systems and strengthen data quality controls
  3. Improve the advisor/client/employee experience and journeys
  • On-going interaction and partnership with IT, product and other key partners both within the information systems community and the Business unit
  • Support Target State Process Modeling activities including:
  1. Work with Process owners and IT Architects to create process models that represent conceptual target state and form the blueprint for implementing technology and uplifting controls associated with processes
  2. Document each business process in the target state, capturing the key steps (functions) in the process, the expected controls and data flows using appropriate taxonomies
  3. Manage change control and attestation processes to ensure artefacts are current
  4. Actively mitigate delivery risks and resolve critical issues and execute against multiple contending priorities simultaneously
  • Partner with Innovation for ongoing research and assessment of new technology and processes for potential use within the Business unit
  • Establish processes to create and share best practices within and across business teams

Requirements

Your experience and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Financial Services industry experience
  • Proven track record of leading and participating in large, complex multi-year initiatives
  • Experience in matrix teams of senior technical and non-technical experts working on complex and cross functional projects at an enterprise scale
  • Strong collaborator, ability to engage effectively with other teams and technical experts
  • Ability to think abstractly and bring clarity to challenging problems
  • Demonstrate ability to motivate and coach others for success and achieving targeted results
  • Experience in strategic and operational planning, communicating expectations and priorities, and delivering proven results
  • Strong relationship management and coordination skills needed to interface with internal staff and stakeholders across internal organization as well as with external vendors
  • Data-savvy with some understanding of financial modeling
  • Strong business acumen; pragmatic, results-oriented
  • Fluent communication skills in English are required and bilingual skills in French are an asset

Salary

This position is posted with an expected salary range of $100,000 - $125,000 CAD annually. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate and the requirements of the position.
