Snappy Shopper is the market leader in the growing Q-commerce convenience grocery sector, worth £41b in the UK. In addition to our independent retailers, we serve most of the major convenience store players, including Spar, Nisa, Premier and Booker.

Snappy exists to enable local high street businesses to serve their customers online so that local communities thrive, and revenue stays local. Retailers have seen revenue uplifts of between £5k and £120k per month, making the platform mission critical to local business.

Our location

We are a Scottish start-up with 120 colleagues based around the UK and our Head Office is located in Dundee.

This role can be offered on a (UK-based) remote basis with occasional travel to our offices in Dundee. If you’d prefer to be in the office from time-to-time, that’s also something we’re happy with.

About the team

Our wider tech team work on the development, improvement and troubleshooting of our applications whilst our Android team act work specifically on our Android apps.

About the Role

Within the wider Android team, this individual will play an innovative role in aiding with the development and support of our range of mobile applications. Outside of the Android team, our Senior Android Developers act as subject matter experts of their field when working with other developers or non-technical teams.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Working with cross-functional teams to define, design and deliver on new features for Android application
• Using Android ASK to design and maintain effective coding
• Collaborating with leadership to translate key business aims into achievable tasks and objectives
• Troubleshooting existing code, in a range of languages, and in a timely and effective manner
• Work within the scrum methodology to prioritise tasks and share best practice.

About You

You’ll be an experienced Android Developer who is/has:

• Real knowledge of appropriate languages like Kotlin and Java
• Proven experience with core Android technologies such as Andoid SDK, Android Studio, Android Jetpack and Android Compose amongst others.
• Experience of development platforms like Firebase and automation tools like Gradle
• Knowledge of testing frameworks like Espresso, Mockito and/or Junit
• Real interpersonal skills
• Ideally, worked in a similar start-up environment
• Some experience with RxJava would be beneficial (but not essential)
