Senior C++ Engineer - Tracking Team (C++ Cloud)

A Day in the Life of a Senior Software Engineer

As a Senior Engineer in the Tracking team at Hawk-Eye Innovations, you will play a pivotal role in leading the delivery of cutting-edge tracking products used by major sports events and leagues worldwide. You will work closely with the Senior Architect and take on a leadership role in developing cross-platform C++ code for our cloud systems in AWS. Your contributions will shape the architecture and design of our innovative solutions, ensuring robust and efficient performance.

You will collaborate intimately with our product team and customers to gather requirements and develop solutions to the most complex challenges in sports technology. You will solve intricate software problems, lead brainstorming sessions, conduct in-depth research, and identify the best approaches to drive our technology forward. Utilising an agile workflow with two-week sprints, you will deliver transformative technology and support the global deployment of our products.

Key Responsibilities

• Architecting and designing new components of the tracking products in the cloud.
• Leading the development and maintenance of our existing software.
• Driving the full life cycle development of projects, coordinating with creatives, product engineers, and the wider development team.
• Providing leadership and guidance during field testing, which may include travel to sports events.
• Demonstrating a passion for innovation, learning, and pushing technological boundaries.
• Mentoring junior team members, conducting code reviews, and ensuring adherence to high coding standards.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

• Proficiency in C++ (modern C++, at least up to C++17).
• Extensive experience in optimising code and writing efficient multithreaded applications.
• Strong understanding of architectural and object-oriented design principles.
• Familiarity with Git and either Visual Studio or typical Linux C++ toolchains (GCC / CMake / Clang).
• Additional expertise in any of the following areas would be a significant advantage:
  • Networking
  • AWS services (SQS, DynamoDB, S3, etc.)
  • Docker
  • OpenGL
  • FFmpeg
  • 3D geometry
  • GoogleTest
  • WSL
