Electrical Engineer or EIT – Hybrid

Mission

We are currently looking for a Power System Studies Engineer to join our Energy team. The Electrical Engineer will have a strong understanding of the engineering environment in electrical design of renewable generation, substations, and low/medium voltage distribution and will be working with multi-disciplinary teams to design in accordance with client requirements and applicable codes and standards. This is a hybrid role that will be based out of our Mississauga office.

Primary Responsibilities

• Define the scope and budget for power system studies
• Provide input on technical specifications for power equipment (transformer, breakers, etc.)
• Perform/review Power systems studies in steady state mode such as short-circuit, load flow, coordination, arc flash, harmonics, and grounding studies
• Produce/review protective relay program according to protection philosophy and power systems studies
• Perform/review electrical project feasibility studies
• Selecting protection and Metering equipment selection for Electrical Single Line Diagram
• Supervise/perform protection relay testing
• Planning, scheduling, and estimation (Engineering and Construction) and engineering coordination with other disciplines)
• Travel to sites for electrical network survey and commissioning activities
• Prepare Single Line Diagrams, AC/DC Schematics and P&C wiring diagrams

Requirements

• 3 to 7 years of experience in power system studies
• University Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline
• Registered as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer in Ontario and in excellent standing with the PEO
• Knowledge of intelligent protective relays and manufacturers (protection & control)
• Familiarity with low and medium voltage indoor distribution equipment (panels,
• switchgear, etc.)
• Working knowledge in EasyPower
• Working knowledge of the OESC, CSA and IEEE standards
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Excellent problem-solving ability, client focus, attention to details, and self-motivation
• Flexibility to respond to short notice assignments and respond to project-based client demands
• Valid Ontario Driver’s license
