Developer II

Our software business systems are built to provide efficiency and functionality to our branch offices and warehouses, allowing Expeditors to provide outstanding customer service and competitive rates. Our internal and external systems are an integrated suite of collaborative supply chain software applications that are designed to assist our operations teams and customers in managing international and domestic shipping challenges. This position is a part of our Document Management team. This team focuses on building and sustaining the digital creation, storage, and movement of documents related to shipments, supply chain, customs, and accounting.

Job Description

What you will be doing:

• Playing a key role on a collaborative project team, responsible for the design and production of mission critical, enterprise-scale business systems
• Translating requirements into system design specifications and the implementation of systems throughout the entire software development life cycle
• Developing a thorough understanding of the logistics business domain
• Maintaining an awareness of evolving technologies in use by other teams at Expeditors and in the technology industry as a whole
• Participate in the design and technical direction of the system

This position is on-site and will reside in the greater Seattle, WA. area at one of the following locations depending on availability. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field of study, or equivalent experience
• Basic knowledge of Java: Coding, working with Java-based Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) such as Intellij
• Experience with source control systems, preferably Git.
• At least 2 years in a software development role in a team environment
• Experience with web development
• Basic knowledge and experience with:
  • Object oriented analysis and design
  • Relational database concepts and SQL
  • RESTful APIs
• Customer service-oriented attitude and time-management skills
• Ability to communicate across IT and Business roles

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience developing front-end web interfaces
• Experience with Gitlab
• Experience with either IBM DB2 or PostGres relational database management systems (RDBMS)
• Agile/SAFe familiarity and/or certification
• Knowledge of Java-based development frameworks such as Spring and Maven
• Web-based and service-based architectures and deployment paradigms
• Experience with Linux operating systems, preferably RedHat
• Experience managing and processing very large datasets
