Sportradar, the global leader in understanding and leveraging the power of sports data and digital content, is seeking a Backend Java Developer for Sports Data Service team. You will be working on a team that delivers core sports data about teams, tournaments, players and much more for more than a million matches every year covering hundreds of sports.

The engineering team supports the business needs of all Sportradar products. Working as a part of the Production Engineering Tribe, you will be responsible for implementing backend applications together with team members delivering sports data in a global infrastructure.

We are seeing an increasing demand for our APIs to support more data. The applications require high uptime and a global presence. You will be involved in delivering sports data to millions of end-users all over the world. Most of the daily tasks involve working with Java, MySQL, gRPC, AI coding assistants, Kubernetes, Gitlab CI/CD and other tools.

We are looking for someone who has a passion for development and creating state-of-the-art solutions and has a sound working knowledge of Java and MySQL, following new and current technological trends, designs and development processes, as well as solution testability and maintainability.

  • Participate in Code Reviews and writing tests – we are a quality-focused company.
  • Work with Generative AI coding-assistants.
  • Help the team understand where modifications are needed and how to write sustainable software.
  • Contribute to developing new solutions, sharing your ideas and opinions, and implementing them.
  • Have a space to develop your skills. You can spend 4 hours every week on self-development.

Requirements

  • Software development experience in backend technologies like Java, or a similar language
  • Experience with MySQL
  • Passion for developing quality software - that will run 24/7 to deliver data about sports every day
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes
  • Good communication skills in English
  • A problem-solving attitude, i.e. not just focused on writing code, but on tackling complex problems and determining how best to solve them
  • Familiarity with API development
  • Willingness to practice TDD
  • Understanding of software architecture principles
  • Proactively identify improvement areas and propose changes with clear benefits to the team
  • Enjoy continuous learning
