Your responsibilities
The candidate will join the mechanical engineering team within the Physics department (EP-DI). They will be responsible for mechanical compliance assessments and structural design in the context of the Neutrino Platform activities at CERN and the LBNF/DUNE project (Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment) in the US.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in demonstrating the compliance of LBNF/DUNE detectors and infrastructures with European and US regulations during the design, execution, and installation phases of the project.
- Assess designs and quality control plans proposed by various detector consortia.
- Create finite element models and perform finite element analyses (static and dynamic) to demonstrate compliance, if required.
- Contribute to the DUNE detectors prototyping phases at CERN, particularly by designing and assessing the main structures needed to validate the feasibility of the DUNE vertical drift detector installation.
Your profile
Skills and/or knowledge
- Experience in structural or civil engineering.
- Solid experience in finite element Analysis (FEA), preferably (but not mandatory) with ANSYS.
