We’re looking for an experienced Director of Retail to build Skin + Me’s offline retail channel at Skin + Me. This is a hybrid working role with three days a week in our Paddington HQ (Mon, Tue, Fri) and two days remote.

About the role:

Skin + Me has built a highly successful D2C ecommerce business and we are launching the brand into retail. As Director of Retail you will be responsible for retail strategy and its delivery.

You will have significant bricks-and-mortar retail experience within a quality consumer brand or retailer, ideally in the beauty sector. You will have experience of setting and delivering against KPIs, commercial strategy development, leading teams, building strong relationships with retail partners and negotiating best-in-class retail deals, analysing data to inform your decision making and maintaining strong relationships with our retail partners (both bricks-and-mortar and pure play online retailers).

This is a pivotal role within the Skin + Me team and you will work closely with the Operations, Brand, NPD and Growth teams. The successful candidate will be able to build the internal relationships needed to get support from these cross-functional teams to help you deliver against your goals. You will need to be happy to roll your sleeves up and be very hands on to deliver against your objectives.

What you'll do:

  • Build on and implement our long-term commercial strategy for Skin + Me retail across traditional bricks-and-mortar and online retailers
  • Work closely with the NPD team and retailers to build a pipeline of products that will drive the growth of our retail channel.
  • Create and deliver launch strategies for NPD.
  • Work with our marketing team to deliver best in class brand and messaging in store
  • Build out sales forecasts, analyse sales data and track your team’s performance & manage the retail P&L.
  • Recruit and develop the retail team. You will be comfortable running a lean team and know when to introduce headcount as the channel’s volume and complexity increases
  • Understand the retail landscape and competitor activities to ensure that Skin + Me is ahead of its competitors.

  • You are hands-on and happy to be highly executional in your role
  • A proven retail operator, you have a record of success scaling one or more consumer brands (ideally in beauty) or have been a category manager at a major beauty retailer
  • You build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • You hire well and can build a highly effective team
  • You are capable of delivering quick growth of a skincare business into a large multi retailer business across the UK and eventually internationally
  • A creative thinker, you are able to problem solve and rapidly iterate based on quantitative and qualitative insights
  • Strong analytical skills, you are comfortable building excel models and can derive actionable insights from data
  • Highly commercial minded, you are an excellent negotiator and prioritise value creation and business impact
