Recreation Programmer

Basic Function:

Through direct program coordination and facilitation, enables children, youth, adults, seniors and families to develop skills, become engaged in the community, live healthy lifestyles and participate in recreation opportunities. The Recreation Programmer is accountable for delivery of programs and customer service for participants under the guidance of the Supervisor, Community Programs.

Position Description:

• Facilitates daily program activities such as sports, games, crafts and special events. Helps to ensure programming is adapted to participant needs with regards to safety, hygiene, weather, breaks etc.
• Liaise with Recreation Coordinators to ensure programming is adapted to participant needs to support an inclusive environment
• Maintain program attendance records and markets existing and new programs
• Participates in the delivery of special events offered by Norfolk County
• Prepares and organizes program plans for new or existing programs and ensures required equipment and supplies are available
• Purchases necessary supplies and equipment
