Design Manager

What is this role?

As the Design Manager for Cirkul, you will lead a dynamic team of graphic designers. You will be responsible for leading and developing designers at all levels of experience. You will serve as the people leader handling performance reviews, time and project management, and hiring. You will serve as a technical expert in design systems and guide the team in implementing best practices and design solutions.

What does an average day look like?

Driving Results:

• Serve as a technical resource on design systems, advocating for best practices and innovative approaches to design challenges.
• Set and articulate a clear design vision and strategy that aligns with Cirkul’s business goals and user needs.

Taking Ownership:

• Provide hands on direction and guidance to the design team, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines and business objectives.

Making Decisions:

• Monitor the design performance and quality, providing feedback, and guiding the team to improve design outcomes and user satisfaction.

Cultivating Relationships:

• Lead, mentor, and inspire the design team to foster a creative and collaborative environment.

Instilling Trust:

• Maintain high standards of design excellence and consistency across all design deliverables.

Customer Focus:

• Work closely with the Art Director, Brand Management, and Project Managers to ensure that designs and projects are meeting brand guidelines and have a cohesive brand messaging.

What background should you have?

• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in a leadership role managing a team of designers in a fast paced, consumer-focused environment.
• Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design work, including digital and print materials.
• Expert in design software and tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, etc.)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Passion for innovation and a keen interest in staying updated with industry trends and best practices.
