Role Summary

The DevOps / Cloud Ops Engineer role will be part of our Infrastructure Team, focusing primarily on AWS database technologies, particularly Aurora and RDS. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud-based database solutions, with a strong emphasis on automation, scalability, and performance optimization. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of DevOps practices and AWS services, especially those related to database management and operations.

What you will do

  • Design, deploy, and manage Amazon RDS and Aurora instances, focusing on high availability and scalability
  • Implement and maintain database architectures using AWS best practices
  • Optimize database performance, including query tuning and resource allocation
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with organizational standards
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for database provisioning and management
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for database schema changes and application deployments
  • Automate routine database tasks, including backups, restores, and scaling operations
  • Create and maintain monitoring and alerting systems for database health and performance
  • Lead database migration projects from on-premises to AWS, focusing on RDS and Aurora
  • Optimize existing database workloads for cloud performance and cost-efficiency
  • Collaborate with application teams to refactor database interactions for cloud-native architectures
  • Design and implement robust disaster recovery solutions using AWS services
  • Ensure high availability of database systems through multi-AZ deployments and read replicas
  • Conduct regular disaster recovery drills and optimize recovery processes

What you will bring

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps or Cloud Operations roles, with a strong focus on AWS
  • Extensive experience with AWS database services, particularly RDS and Aurora
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and methodologies (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, AWS CodePipeline)
  • Solid understanding of database administration concepts and best practices
  • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Database - Specialty, DevOps Engineer - Professional)
