loveholidays engineering’s role underpins our vision to become the most loved OTA in Europe by providing a best in class experience to customers pre and post booking. Our systems process 755 billion holiday offers every day, helping millions of customers find their perfect holiday. Our website serves 7,500 requests per second, backed by more than 100 services hosted on GCP to which we deploy 1500 times a month.

The Web Infrastructure team is crucial for maintaining the performance and scalability of our website, significantly enhancing our customers' experience. We also delve into advanced content management using AI and work on our cutting-edge in-house experimentation platform.

The Senior Software Engineer will play a crucial role in advancing our web capabilities. This role is essential for optimising performance, enhancing our content management system and ensuring our web infrastructure scales efficiently to support new market opportunities. You'll be at the forefront of our mission to deliver high-quality, scalable digital content and features.

Your day-to-day:

• Drive efficiencies by consolidating and simplifying front-end architecture and processes.
• Automate content management and translation processes using AI and other advanced technologies.
• Enhance the user experience by refining our A/B experiment configuration and user allocation systems.
• Enhance our Compute@Edge services on Fastly.
• Develop and maintain our scalable, self-serve content management system.

Your skillset:

• Proven experience in building and optimising scalable, high-performance websites.
• Deep understanding of web performance engineering principles, algorithms, software design, and relevant technologies (e.g., CDNs, WAFs, Edge Computing).
• Strong focus on solving user problems and delivering business value through technology.
• Hands-on experience with front-end frameworks and tools
• Expertise in automation and configuration management.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive efficiency and innovation.

Desirable

• Hands-on experience with Preact and Vite
• Previous experience with Fastly and building Edge Compute services
• Active contributions to open source projects
