Job Description

General Summary:

As a Real World Analytics Manager at Vertex, you will be at the forefront of cutting-edge medical research, analyzing complex data to unravel crucial insights that may lead to innovative medical breakthroughs.

The Real World Analytics (RWA) Manager performs the execution of statistical analysis plans for observational research conducted by the RWE, GPS, and/or other cross-functional stakeholders. The (RWA) Manager also evaluates fit-for-purpose database selection, provides analytic input to patient population selection, medical code search, performs QC as needed and manages workload in support of one or more therapeutic areas. The (RWA) Manager is a hybrid role requiring two core skills sets: statistical programming and project management.

This position offers a hybrid work schedule, which allows for remote work 2 days per week and 3 days per week in our Boston Fan Pier office.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Executes on statistical analysis plans
  • Evaluate and provide input to database selection, patient population selection and statistical analysis plans
  • Understanding of data models and back-end data structure using various real world data sources to build front-end dashboard and visualization applications.
  • Remains current on RWE research approaches, related disease area knowledge, and analytic tools.
  • Supports staff with new software, programming techniques, and databases. Partners with Data, Technology and Engineering (DTE) to advance RWE technology competencies through the agile adoption of novel techniques, programming languages, and analytics

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of AWS cloud platforms.
  • Familiarity of one or more of the Redshift, Snowflake, and Databricks is preferred.
  • Familiarity with data analysis methods, data management, and data visualization.
  • SAS programming experience is required; other programming skills such as, SQL, R, Python, Matlab, html are preferred
  • Skills of data visualization and knowledge of dashboard creation using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, is preferred.
  • Attention to detail is critical, as is adhering to standards and procedures.
  • Good organizational and written/verbal communication skills required.
  • Good interpersonal, leadership, and influence management skills are also important.
  • Strong study and project management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a constantly changing, diverse, and matrix environment
  • Ability to multitask; strong work ethic and a "can-do" mentality.

Education and Experience:

Advanced degrees in epidemiology, biostatistics, math, data science, or similar disciplines required

Minimum 2 years of experience working in observational research within the life sciences industry or relevant academic, government, or consulting environment
