Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Principal Water Resources Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to the project management and technical direction for the planning, study, design, approval and construction of drainage and stormwater management projects.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Independently leads the drainage component of the infrastructure projects. This includes but not limited to all phases of design and tendering process for drainage/SWM features of the projects.
  • Create detailed studies, computer modeling and design tasks associated with storm water management works in support of development projects, subwatershed plans, floodplain mapping analyses, hydrologic/hydraulic analyses, erosion and sediment control studies, etc.
  • Lead and support proposals and business developments efforts.
  • Manage multiple project deadlines, budgets, and potential scope changes.
  • Complete field assessments, analysis and evaluations as required.
  • Provide quality control and independent review of deliverables.
  • Provide support for construction activities as project manager, project engineer or contract administrator.
  • Provide input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Water Resources Engineering and 8+ years of related work experience. Professional Engineer registration or eligibility to register with PEO is required.

  • Strong understanding of the GTA/Ontario engineering consulting market.

  • Established contacts and knowledge of the regulatory environment and approvals process would be a notable asset.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with ability to build rapport.

  • Experience with responding to Requests for Proposals, Expression of Interests, and Statement of Qualifications.

  • Proven technical skills on related projects.

  • A thorough knowledge of current technology and the capabilities and efficiencies of specific engineering software (EPA/PC-SWMM, HEC-RAS, InfoWorks, SWMHYMO, Visual OTTHYMO, Civil3D/MicroStation) for use in completing engineering assignments.

  • Valid Ontario Drivers’ License.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • 15+ years of relevant experience in water resources engineering.
  • Experience with Transit and Highway Projects.
  • Experience with Design Build Projects.
  • Experience with Fluvial Geomorphology / Natural Channel design.
  • Experience with 2D hydraulic modeling.
  • Demonstrated people management and ability to mentor junior staff.
