Senior Embedded Software Engineer is responsible for design, coding and testing of locomotive system embedded applications. Analyze product and subsystem requirements to drive architecture and designs. Executes design reviews, develops and releases software following Wabtec software process and guidelines. Works cross-functionally with hardware, systems and verification teams to ensure quality of deliverables. This role will include technical leadership of development team members including, task assignment and prioritization and enables successful project outcomes with respect to scope, schedule and budget.

Essential Responsibilities:

· Design, implement, test and release software, ensuring quality specifications are met

· Perform complex architecture and design tradeoffs based upon product requirements

· Document software design as per design guidelines

· Resolve software issues, perform root cause analysis, and provide solutions

· Perform design and code reviews in accordance with applicable standards and guidelines

· Work cross-functionally with systems engineering, product management, simulation, verification, validation, and electronic hardware teams

· Act as technical lead for assigned projects, including project level estimates and scheduling

· Mentor team members from the perspective of a subject matter expert

· Break down problems and high level requirements and estimate development effort

· Work independently to prioritize tasks and delegate to team members

· Accountable for product deliverables and quality

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor's in Electrical/Computer Engineering

· 15+ years of experience as an Embedded Software Engineer

· Experience as technical lead for development teams

· Ability to present design decisions and tradeoffs to a broad audience

· Hands on experience in C/C++, Python, Shell scripting,

· Experience generating project estimates from base requirements

· Understanding of multi-core embedded applications and control

· Experience generating validation and verification test plans and automated tools

· Experience creating board support packages (BSP),

· Experience with Device Driver, HW/SW interface development on QNX, Linux , RTOS including FPGA based peripheral interfaces

· Communication protocol experience including Serial, Arcnet and Ethernet

Preferred Qualifications:

· Knowledge of Matlab/Simulink

· Experience with setup of CI/CD environments

· Familiar with cyber security concepts and tools

· Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall development methodologies.

· Experience with one of the following processors - Xilinx, ARM, PPC, Intel, K60
