About the team

loveholidays engineering’s role underpins our vision to become the most loved OTA in Europe by providing a best in class experience to customers pre and post booking. Our systems process 755 billion holiday offers every day, helping millions of customers find their perfect holiday. Our website serves 7,500 requests per second, backed by more than 100 services hosted on GCP to which we deploy 1500 times a month.

The impact you’ll have:

In the Supply Hotels team the Senior Software Engineer is responsible for delivering key technical products, planning technical initiatives, mentoring more junior members and working closely together with the Lead and Staff Engineers of the team. The Senior Software Engineer should be an expert in the field, while showing maturity in soft skills, empathy, and pragmatism, ultimately allowing the Supply team and therefore Loveholidays to be successful.

Your day-to-day:

• Pair-programming to deliver quality technical solutions
• Supporting and finding issues with 3rd party APIs and suppliers
• Coming up with technical initiatives to improve existing systems
• Rebuilding existing systems for improved scalability and performance
• Participating and leading agile processes: Daily Standup, Weekly Grooming, Weekly Planning, Bi-Weekly Retrospectives

Your skillset:

• You have extensive experience coding in Go and/or Java.
• You are an experienced and motivated engineer who consistently leads by example.
• You enjoy collaborating with other engineers through pair programming.
• You have proven experience in building scalable and high-performance applications, employing cutting edge algorithms, software design and technologies to do so.
• You have a constant interest in learning more about the latest trends in technology, and want to grow further. We invest in engineer’s growth and will give you the platform to do it.
• You own applications end to end, from specification to coding, to deploying, running and monitoring in production.

Desirable

• You have extensive experience coding in Go and Java.
• You have experience deploying applications in Kubernetes through Google Cloud.
• You have experience managing infrastructure as code with Terraform.
• You are comfortable using BigQuery to analyse data to help identify areas of opportunity within the team.
• You have knowledge and understanding of the travel sector.
