The role

We are looking for an ambitious and motivated individual to join Plum as the first internal legal hire into our team to help work on the ‘big bets’ that we want to take across the UK and EU. You will be part of the CEO’s office, working directly with the Partnerships & Strategy team to scope and execute our biggest strategic initiatives. This is a fast-paced, think-on-your-feet position. You will interact and build key relationships with business leaders across the company and externally with some of our core partners.

In this role you will

• Help to ensure that we have a clear legal basis to ensure that the way we build new products at Plum is Compliant, Operationally efficient, and scales well.
• Engage directly with the FCA responding to queries around our products and Operating Model.
• Support scoping the new authorisations and permissions that we need, as we scale across the EU and add new products to our platform.
• Manage the process of any new authorisations requests that we make.
• Support with review of commercial contracts and fundraising on an ad hoc basis

Ideally you are someone who

• Has 3-4 years PQE experience in financial services regulation

• Has a good knowledge with respect to CASS and the provisions that govern regulated MiFID investment firms across UK and EU.

• Has experience dealing directly with National Competent authorities and Financial regulators.

• Is extremely fungible; You will be the first Legal hire into Plum, so you will need to be self directed, comfortable building the structure that you work within, and potentially building the team as required…

• Having exposure to fast growing Fintechs is a big plus, or experience in a large incumbent financial services institution.
