• Advanced T-SQL skills. (PowerShell is a nice bonus)
• Managing environments with 50+ instances. (I would also like to see the ability to work with DBs that are 100s of GBs in size.)
• Expert level maintenance skills (Backups, indexes, integrity, etc.)
• Expert level installing, configuring, and supporting all editions of SQL server. Including, AG’s, windows failover clusters, DR configurations etc. (2022 would be a huge bonus here)
• Knowledgeable” on SSRS, SSIS, SSAS.

Other

Monitoring tools – (Veeam, RedGate, SolarWinds, or some home ground DBA toolkit, etc.)

Encryption – (All types, when and why to implement.)

Security – (Familiar with SOC2 compliance, Microsoft Audits, etc.)

AZURE SQL

1. Azure Fundamentals
   1. Must understand at a general level about Azure Subscriptions, Resource Groups, Entra ID, and so on. We need fluency here, but not expert level with Azure.
2. Understand Hosting Types for SQL in Azure, and when you would use/choose one vs. other.
   1. Azure SQL DB
   2. Managed Instances
   3. VMs
