Position Summary:

The Lead Financial and Sustainability Reporting and Technical Accountant will be a key participant on the Financial Reporting team with responsibilities for the preparation and filing of external reports mandated by U.S. GAAP, SEC, and CSRD regulations, technical accounting, support of quarterly reviews and annual audit process. This individual will be responsible for a wide array of duties including technical accounting research, SEC reporting, sustainability reporting and special projects.

The successful candidate will be detail oriented and have a strong knowledge of fundamental accounting principles and financial reporting, along with excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills. This is a key position on the finance team and provides exposure to operational accounting, complex accounting transactions, sustainability reporting, and collaboration with various departments such as Accounting, FP&A, Human Resources, Investor Relations, Education, Health and Human Services (“EHSS”), and Legal.

Where you come in:

  • Work cross-functionally with finance and operational personnel to understand business transactions in order to properly disclose within regulatory filings.
  • Monitor ESG and SEC regulatory reporting trends in addition to activity of the FASB, SEC, CSRD, ESRS, SASB, and other bodies to identify the potential impact of new accounting and reporting guidance.
  • Prepare Dexcom to deliver existing and future regulatory reports in multiple jurisdictions around the world.
  • Assist in design and implementation enhanced governance mechanisms to ensure adequate oversight and control over ESG reporting.
  • Provide requirements to sustainability team to help automate mandatory sustainability reporting processes.
  • Prepare benchmarking of voluntary and regulatory disclosures across environmental and social topics.
  • Work with worldwide sustainability subject matter experts to understand our calculation methodology, and draft transparent disclosures for inclusion in our voluntary and regulatory sustainability reporting. These disclosures will need to meet the requirements of external reviewers and will provide a transparent summary of Dexcom’s criteria and methodology used to calculate key metrics (i.e. GHG emissions, waste, water usage, diversity).
  • Assist in ensuring consistent disclosure between press releases, earnings scripts and regulatory filings.
  • Assist in the reporting process.
  • Assist in the implementation of new accounting pronouncements.
  • Prepare or review supporting information used to compile sustainability reports, financial statements, notes, MD&A, and 8-Ks. Prepare or review tie outs of SEC and Sustainability filings.
  • Perform SOX controls on assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Work with external auditors during the annual audit process and quarterly reviews.
  • Prepare disclosure checklists related to SEC filings.
  • Assist with XBRL or EU equivalent tagging and review.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting, 5-10 years related experience, public accounting experience required or equivalent in Sustainability Reporting.
  • CPA license or equivalent
  • Experience with the preparation or review of SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q).
  • Experience creating new disclosures in accordance with specific criteria (i.e. US GAAP, SEC, CSRD, ESRS, GHG protocol)
  • Ability to build and execute a Sustainability disclosure strategy that aligns with the needs of various stakeholders.
  • Experience understanding complex transactions and creating clear and transparent disclosures for external stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of sustainability reporting criteria such as the GHG protocol.
  • Excellent communication, reasoning, interpersonal, project management, organizational skills, and superior attention to detail.
  • Ability to deliver in ambiguity, work autonomously and multi-task in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience simplifying processes and creating detailed technical requirements for automation.
  • Experience directly performing independent third-party assurance or managing external audit firms.
  • Understanding of the emerging ESG regulatory environment (SEC Rule on Climate-Related Disclosures, CSRD/ESRS, EU taxonomy).
  • Strong knowledge in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel.
  • Flexibility to adhere to tight close and reporting schedules.
  • Biotech/medtech/pharmaceutical/life sciences industry experience a plus.
  • Experience with Workiva financial reporting system a plus.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8-12 years of related experience.

  • • At this level a graduate degree may be desirable with 4 years of related experience
