Ascendis Pharma is looking for a passionate and experienced professional to join our growing team as the Director of Global Sales Excellence and Development.

The role

This new role is crucial for designing, building, and implementing a consistent selling process and comprehensive sales training curriculum, which can be customized for use across our global affiliates. As Sales Excellence Director you will collaborate closely with global marketing and medical directors to develop commercial sales training content tailored for local sales teams and managers. As a strategic partner to the business, you will design and implement training programs to enhance brand and sales performance, ensuring near-term success and long-term sustainability in competitive markets.

The preferred location for this position is in Hellerup, Denmark, but we will also consider candidates based in our key European offices in Munich, London, Paris, Madrid, or Milan. The role reports directly to the Vice President of Global Marketing.

Your key responsibilities will be

  • Lead the new Global Sales Training function, developing and implementing a consistent sales process, including strategic guidance and playbooks for customer engagement.
  • Create training programs to define and uphold sales managerial coaching standards and excellence.
  • Develop a comprehensive global sales training roadmap and curriculum framework for affiliates.
  • Design and implement sales training content and certification programs that align with our brand strategy and incorporate technology-enabled promotional materials.
  • Create and maintain a repository of sales training content.
  • Lead and coordinate a network of local agencies to implement sales-enabling activities in European direct markets.
  • Ensure high standards of sales excellence through continuous monitoring, effectiveness assessments, and direct coaching of sales leaders in European direct markets.
  • Promote and facilitate the sharing and adoption of best practices across countries.

Qualifications and skills:

  • 15+ years in both marketing and customer-facing roles with a proven track record of success.
  • High-level vertical and horizontal communication and collaboration skills across global and local functions, senior leadership, and other priority internal stakeholders (e.g., compliance, HR).
  • Deep understanding of adult learning principles and their application to training.
  • High level of experience with Veeva Promomats and LMS systems.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master’s in business or social sciences preferred.

Your exceptional analytical abilities allow you to meticulously analyze complex data while maintaining attention to detail. You have excellent oral and written communication skills, enabling you to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. Additionally, you are highly flexible and adaptable, capable of adjusting to changing circumstances and working efficiently in a virtual setting
