Why this team?

This org is responsible for building world-class infrastructure that is critical to all of Cohere’s success. Focus on stability, scalability, and observability are all paramount as this work acts as the foundation for all members of technical staff.

Our team optimizes for a wide range of technical skillsets (some of which are outlined below). Being self-directed and adaptable, identifying and solving key problems are essential.

Please Note: All of our infrastructure roles require participating in a 24x7 on-call rotation, where you are compensated for your on-call schedule.

We have offices in Toronto, New York, San Francisco, and London. We embrace a remote-friendly environment, and as part of this approach, we strategically distribute teams based on interests, expertise, and time zones to promote collaboration and flexibility.

General skillsets and experiences we are always looking for:

• 5+ years of engineering experience running production infrastructure at a large scale
• Experience working with and supporting MLEs or data scientists
• Experience designing large, highly available distributed systems with Kubernetes, and GPU workloads on those clusters
• Experience in designing, deploying, supporting, and troubleshooting in complex Linux-based distributed computing environments

Specific profiles we are especially focused on - Storage Engineer

• Synchronized data between different cloud providers
• Worked with distributed filesystems (such as Lustre, Weka, or Vast)
• Built internal tooling to help large numbers of data engineers manage costs and data lifecycle optimization

Specific profiles we are especially focused on - Analytics & Observability Engineer:

• Have run analysis for technical teams, with a focus on metrics like compute utilization
• Comfortable designing dashboards and reports for senior leadership
• Have used systems like Grafana, Prometheus, BigQuery, and Looker in your day to day work to design dashboards
