Sr. BI Engineer

Our first step to achieving our mission is to transform the recruiting experience into an easy, human and fair process, for both candidates and companies with high-volume job openings.

Emi, our main product, is an A.I. recruitment assistant that enables companies to engage in a conversation with each applicant to detect interested and qualified individuals while saving Recruiters a huge amount of time by automating tasks such as screening, validating skills, scheduling interviews, and collecting documents.

We were part of Y-Combinator's Winter 2019 batch and in 2022 we have raised an $11M funding round co-led by Merus Capital and Khosla Ventures.

About the Data Science Team

The Data Science Team at Emi is responsible for making it easier for us and our clients to get actionable insights from the data generated throughout the hiring processes. The team is divided into BI, Applied Data Science and Data Engineering.

What you'll be doing

Your main goal is to help our clients and our internal teams get the most value out of our data. You’ll work closely with other areas of the Data Science team and with the Engineering team, designing the data pipelines necessary to help our clients and our own team thrive by connecting our distributed data sources to create valuable insights. Therefore, you’ll have tolearn what our clients’ pains are, and how we can help solve many of them using our data more effectively. Your role as a BI Engineer is critical because you act as a fundamental bridge between our customer & internal teams needs and our engineering teams, and help us build great data products.This role requires an experienced individual who is proactive, hands-on, and capable of working independently to identify and solve complex data problems.

Tasks/Activities

• Building dashboards and other data apps for our customers and for internal teams
• Querying our data warehouse and working with the data engineering team to continue building the ETLs when necessary
• Creating analytics reports for customers and internal teams
• Help us and our customers become more data-driven in our decision making

What we're looking for

• +3 years of relevant work experience
• Strong experience with ETL tools and processes (we use DBT + Airbyte)Advanced SQL skills and experience with database management
• Proficiency with data warehousing technologies, especially Redshift
• Proactiveness, having a continuous need to transform the status quo is fundamental. We are looking for someone who will constantly be suggesting and producing change in the way we do things
• Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of projectsAttention to detail, with great sense of ownership and responsibility with respect to their work
• Humble and fast learner, with a great ability to recognize and communicate where their blindspots are, and eager to learn about new technologies to solve real problems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, both in Spanish and English

Bonus

• Bachelor degree in Data Science, Engineering, Economics or similar careers
• Experience with PostgreSQL
• Experience with visualization tools like Metabase, tableau, QlikView, plotly,d3.js, Sisense
• Experience with python or other scripting languages
