Quality Assurance Specialist

You use these skills to test and ensure that every project is the best it can possibly be while using your strong communications skills to work with team members and document results as well as recommend fixes. You stay up to date with all the newest devices and understand how they work.

As a Quality Assurance Specialist with REDspace, you are skilled in functional testing and will be part of a large team of testers.. This is a primarily in-office role that will be based out of our office in Bedford, NS.

About the Role.

  • Gather and understand project requirements
  • Execute test cases, at times using automated testing
  • Suggest improvements to improve overall user experience
  • Document bugs in provided tracking solutions to ensure that team members have a clear understanding of what has been tested, what requires improvement, and the desired end result
  • Validate bug fixes and verify feature implementation
  • Participate in different testing phases e.g. User Acceptance Testing, smoke, regression, ad-hoc testing
  • Create and review test result summaries with stakeholders to ensure test coverage via manual test cases

Skills/experience.

  • Post Secondary education in computer science, information technology, or a related field or equivalent experience..
  • 2 + years of experience working in a software testing capacity preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to measure general quality of software and optimize processes
  • Enterprise-grade services testing/QA experience
  • Experience with traffic review via proxy/software, e.g. Charles Proxy, Postman, etc
  • Familiarity with general web tech (Headers, Cookies, URL manipulation, etc)
  • Exposure to OTT devices (Roku/Chromecast)
  • Development experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong attention to contextual differences and analytical/problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance tools, ticketing software, and project management tools such as Jira.
  • Knowledge of overall architecture of websites, mobile applications, set top boxes, and online games.
  • Understanding of quality assurance best practices and software testing methodology
  • Work well in an ever-changing, fast paced, high pressure environment that requires meeting tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a group of team members including developers, project managers, creative directors, and clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Bonus Points.

  • Experience working in a similar industry and/or with similar products.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Appium, etc.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, JavaScript, or Shell scripting.
