Role overview:

Solely responsible for the production, control and delivery multiple projects delivering on time, to budget, to agreed quality standard, safely, by motivating teams, performing to the highest level.

Role Scope:

Various sized projects, all site management report directly into the Contracts Manager as do Surveyors, Technical and Buying indirectly. Responsible for multiple projects at any one time.

Key Results Areas:

1. Health & Safety

  • Promote health, safety and environmental issues in line with Hill policy on all projects to ensure the highest standards are achieved and maintained.

Ensure risk assessments and method statements are being received, checked and approved by the production team on all projects.

Ensures ALL risks are reviewed for construction methodology

  • Provide feedback to Group HSE Manager

2. Quality

  • Ensure projects are operating in accordance with company policies/procedures and ISO requirements.
  • Enforce strict adherence to the quality process and routinely investigate and interrogate to confirm compliance.

3. Delivery

  • To work closely with all members of the site delivery team and supply chain to proactively drive communication and problem solving.
  • To organise & control the construction of the development in accordance with the specification provided.
  • To ensure construction complies with NHBC and all other statutory authorities.
  • Act as an ambassador to the business. Represent the company in a professional manner and establish strong relationships with the key clients.
  • Business development and promotion of the Hill brand.
  • Produce detailed programmes and report against them accurately
  • Prepare and host internal team meetings and Client meetings.
  • Review weekly safety and quality documentation. Scrutinise and challenge the team to ensure the processes are followed diligently.
  • Interrogate and influence designs to facilitate buildability.
  • Manage the working environment, sequence and flow to limit abortive works, prevent any detrition in quality and subsequently control non-recoverable costs.
  • Ensure all sites are presented in accordance with the requisite company branding.
  • Compile monthly overview reports for the Regional Director
  • Involvement in preconstruction activities to include preparation of prelims/ programmes /logistic plans

4. Financial

  • Monthly Prelim reviews and input into the CVC
  • Challenge design/procurement and construction methods to ensure maximum value and working in line with control documents and budgets.

5. People

  • Motivating the projects teams to perform at the highest possible level.
  • Work collaboratively with technical/sales/commercial and customer service managers to drive projects forward and proactivity deal with any regional issues to ensure a swift and satisfactory resolution.
  • Carry out staff appraisals in line with company procedures.
  • Adhering to company HR policies.

Success Measures:

  • Monitor KPI health and safety performance; take action to improve quickly, when under pressure and in difficult circumstances where necessary.
  • Ensures that projects are delivered in accordance with our contractual requirements and that the production teams are continually monitoring this and accurately reporting the position of the programme
  • Effective management of the supply chain
  • Hold reviews of projects on an ongoing basis with other levels in Production, supporting and guiding other departments to ensure they are delivered to programme
  • Take ownership of resolving buildability challenges and value engineering during both pre and post construction.
  • Direct the end-to-end delivery process, starting with the design and finishing with the conclusion of the defects period
  • Take ownership of Considerate Construction scores
  • Oversee continuous improvement, ensuring the Quality Plan is adhered to
  • Promote sustainability and adhere to Company ESG practices
  • Hold overall responsibility for preliminary budgets and expenditure

Skills, Experience and Attributes:

  • Extensive site management experience with responsibility of large teams
  • Experience in delivering multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of groundworks and civil engineering
  • Experienced in both development and contracting
  • Familiar with JCT contracts
  • Ability to deliver to expected quality and on time
  • Experience in D&B projects with bespoke designs.
  • Proficient in ASTA Power Projects
  • SMSTS
  • First Aid at Work
  • CIOB qualification preferable
