As an Electrical Engineer on the Stretch Team at Boston Dynamics, you will be a part of a small, fast-moving robotics team, helping with the design, construction, and troubleshooting of compact and reliable electrical systems in robotics. Every day you will work on electrical system designs, dense electromechanical integrations, PCB layouts, and frequently contribute hands-on in lab building, validating and debugging electrical systems, ranging from small test systems to fully integrated prototype robots. Robotics includes a broad range of technical subjects within electrical engineering. To thrive in this role, you must be able to work quickly and adapt to constantly evolving design considerations, while keeping track of several development threads at the same time.

**How you will make an impact:

  • Help design electrical systems in advanced robotics
  • Review designs and conduct failure analysis and debug activities using strong circuit analysis fundamentals
  • Write firmware in C/C++, program and test embedded designs
  • Test and validate designs to a high standard of quality and reliability (EVT/DVT)
  • Develop analog circuit designs for all sorts of embedded sensors in robots
  • Use schematic capture and PCB layout software (We use Altium)
  • Use your working understanding of command-line Linux to configure networks and run software on robots
  • Use a wide variety of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMM’s, power supplies, programmable loads, and spectrum analyzers to validate designs or figure out hard electrical engineering problems

**Desired Experience:

Any of the experience listed below would be applicable in this role, it is not expected that candidates would possess all of these qualifications.

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with Firmware in C/C++
  • Experience with DFM (Design for Manufacture)
  • Experience with Python, LabView, or MATLAB
  • Experience with high speed protocols and communication including PCIE, USB, Ethernet
  • Experience designing power electronics from 50W to 10kW
  • Experience using or designing motors and/or motor drives, or other closed loop actuation systems
  • Experience designing wireless devices, antennas, or other RF applications
  • Experience with functional safety (IEC 61508, ISO 26262)
  • Working knowledge of Solidworks or other mechanical CAD experience
  • Experience in Verilog or VHDL
