Communications Manager

We are looking for a talented PR and communications expert to join our growing team on a part-time basis and help shape awareness of both Acast and our podcasters across relevant comms channels across AU/NZ.

This will encompass consumer and trade PR activities, trade marketing activities, events and social media in the Australian market. The ideal candidate will deeply understand the regional media landscape, cultural nuances, and audience preferences to craft and execute strategic campaigns that drive awareness, engagement, and growth.

This role will be based in our Sydney office, and partner with our local podcaster relations and sales teams as a member of the global communications and marketing team. This person needs to be passionate about podcasting and its potential, have a strong grasp of the podcast space and be able to juggle multiple projects at once.

This position is ideal for freelancer with a proven consultancy background and a knack for efficient, effective work. We estimate that this assignment will require three days per week, based in our office.

What you´ll do

PR/Comms

• Drive positive, proactive coverage of Acast and its offering for podcasters and advertisers, to raise brand awareness amongst its B2B target audiences - localising global Acast stories where relevant, as well as generating locally-specific narratives

• Generate coverage around key Acast podcasts and podcasters to drive listeners to shows

• Position Acast spokespeople as industry experts through interview and thought leadership opportunities across relevant media - including press, podcasts and social media

• Maintain strong relationships with relevant trade media to ensure Acast is top of mind for media coverage and opportunities

• Collaborate with Acast’s global comms team to share ideas, best practices and collaborationCreate and maintain relationships with relevant influencers, journalists and digital community leaders

• Develop, rewrite, and edit materials such as press releases, Q&As, briefing documents, fact sheets, bylined articles and presentations

• Coordinate press interviews and video shoots with spokespeople and podcastersMonitor media relating to the company and its brand and competitors, maximising opportunities for positive PR

• Remain current on PR and relevant industries news and trends

• Track and analyse PR metrics and success

• Ensure timely follow-up for press inquiries and interview requests

Events

• Support the Australian team on executing owned Acast events. Examples could be agency activations, attending trade events, putting together educational panels, hosting live podcast events or similar

• Manage a calendar of events for the AUS team to speak at, and facilitate process of participating in those events

Who you are

• Public Relations experience - in-house or agency, minimum four years

• Previous experience writing and pitching press releases and data-led stories to media

• Candidate must be conversant in digital and social mediaFirst class communication, interpersonal and multitasking skills

• Candidate must work well both independently and as part of a team, and has natural affinity for streaming media, podcasting, audio, and tech

• Well-developed and well-maintained media relationshipsMust have fantastic organisational skills and an innate ability to stay on top of multiple projects at once

• Must have very strong project management and decision-making skills

• Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced and unstructured, deadline-oriented environment

• Collaborate with brand, product, community and social media teams on product launches and marketing campaigns

• Ability to work as part of a global team

• An interest in podcasts and the podcast industry
