This role can be based in San Francisco, Los Angeles, or New York.

As one of the creators within the company, you’ll report to the Senior Manager, Social, and partner directly with our social and video teams to make compelling short-form videos for Patreon’s social media channels. You’ll be at the center of our creative social video projects and initiatives across Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, finding innovative ways to bring narratives that deeply matter to creators to life. You are tenacious and open, creative and analytical. You are hands-on with the ability to create something from just an idea. You are an incredible storyteller with a deep understanding of the internet and social media. You have bold, creative ideas, and want to shape the future of digital media through making art. *Please note: A portfolio is required for consideration.

About the Role

• Take a hands-on role in making short-form video, including making, filming, editing, sound design, light animation, and storytelling.
• Support in developing a creative strategy alongside other teammates to create engaging videos that support creators and Patreon’s goals
• Develop concepts and ideas to grow Patreon’s social presence
• Assist in the day-to-day posting of videos
• Write crisp and captivating copy to accompany videos
• Stay up-to-date with the latest social media best practices and emerging platforms
• Analyze short-form video performance, provide learnings and insights to teams, and actively make and implement recommendations for improvements

About You

• A strong knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite with an emphasis in Adobe Premiere and After Effects.
• Strong editorial judgment with the ability to create compelling stories that fit into the zeitgeist.
• A collaborative and positive team player with an excellent work ethic
• Excellent communication skills and ability to pitch creative ideas
• Exceptional organizational skills, focus, and attention to detail
• Ability to meet deadlines

Skills you possess:

• Sound design: An understanding of sound and how audio can change the tone of a video.
• Production: Make high craft videos that meet deadlines and nail the brief.
• Editing: You can edit and have a deep understanding of editing videos optimized for vertical formats.
• Filming: You can capture and film compelling shots that supports and elevates a story in a unique, visual-first way.
• Animation: You have a solid understanding of After Effects and Blender, you can tell a story through animation and bring something very straightforward like a piece to camera to life with a little visual flare through animation.
• Ideation and storytelling: You are a fountain of creative ideas, excited to test and learn from publishing, and think creatively to solve problems in order to tell the best story you can. You have a deep understanding of narrative and can clearly convey a message that resonates on social media.
• Experience creating short-form video, specifically for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and/or YouTube Shorts.
• Can speak to the internet zeitgeist. You’re on the pulse of what’s trending with creators to fuel your ideas.
• Ability to work across several projects at once, and manage your time so projects are completed on schedule.

Experience required:

• At least 5+ years creating for social media, either helping world class brands’ social and/or creator-first brands’ presence across platforms with smart, engaging strategies and content.
• Proven ability to nurture and speak to social communities, understanding the nuances of conversation happening on one social platform vs. another.
• Creator at heart. You understand what creators go through—being a creator yourself—and can draw from this to inspire your ideas.
• Internal and external collaboration.
• Operational excellence and attention to detail
