About the role

We have a great opportunity for you to join Arrow as a Network Support Engineer. This role will involve working on site for one of our key customers in Dundee.

As a Network Support Engineer you will support our customer’s critical network infrastructure by responding to incidents impacting the network and carrying out on-site troubleshooting, cabling and diagnostic tasks. You will work closely with our Network Operations Centre, based remotely, and with the customer’s technical teams.

Although this is a hybrid role, we are looking for someone based in or around Dundee as you will be required to work on the customer site. As a part of the role you will join the on-call rota on a 1 week in 4 basis and support project work with planned overtime if needed.

What you’ll do

  • Assist the customer with their questions about supported network infrastructures.
  • Be the point of contact for escalation for the Arrow Network Operations Centre for queries which require site presence or specific site knowledge.
  • Responsible for queue and time management.
  • Log information in tickets to accurately reflect calls received, where required and maintain detailed and accurate records.
  • Interpret instructions, issues arising, and implement actions according to administrative policies and procedures.
  • Assist project delivery engineers with remote implementation of network projects.
  • Produce and update documentation and network diagrams.
  • Participate in the on-call rota on a 1 week in 4 basis.

Requirements

What we are looking for?

Essential

  • Experience of working in an IT networking support role
  • Experience of delivering excellent customer service.
  • Experience of working to strict SLAs and exposure to SLA management.
  • Experience of working in a fast paced environment.
  • Full UK driving license and access to own car.
  • Knowledge of cabling for edge and DC
  • Understanding of fibre / copper cabling, constraints, technologies, grades, distances, application
  • Switching – support and configuration of: L2, STP, MSTP, RSTP, PVST, 802.3ad, 802.3aq, 802.1x
  • Ether channelling, Port Channels.
  • Routing – support and configuration of HSRP / VRRP / IPv4 / IPv6 / OSPF
  • Understanding of Port numbers, SNMP, DNS, DHCP
  • Wireless infrastructure, Controllers, Aps
  • Experience of Ticket Management applications

Desirable

  • Previous experience of Network Management Systems (LogicMonitor especially)
  • Previous experience of Aruba Wi-Fi, Switching and Clearpass products.
