About the role:

Lumafield is seeking a highly motivated Sustaining Engineer to ensure the ongoing performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance of our hardware products throughout their lifecycle. As a member of the Manufacturing Team, you will drive essential updates and improvements to our flagship product line, making our products more powerful and reliable. This role offers a unique blend of autonomy and influence, allowing you to drive continuous improvements and innovations in a high-impact product that is revolutionizing the way things are manufactured everywhere.

What you'll do:

  • Drive ongoing design improvement from ideation to execution based on feedback from customers, the build team, and the engineering team.
  • Work closely with our Regulatory Team to ensure our scanners maintain ongoing compliance with all applicable state, federal, and international regulations.
  • Triage electromechanical issues on the production floor and execute short-term corrections & long-term corrective actions.
  • Execute design changes and documentation updates using sound CAD and 2D drawing best practices.
  • Develop and document SOPs for manufacturing processes, including assembly instructions and IQC.
  • Identify and execute assembly process changes to improve the safety, quality, ease, ergonomics, and speed of assembly.
  • Design, build, and evaluate jigs and/or fixtures to improve assembly tasks.
  • Manage ECOs and train assembly technicians in new processes and assemblies.

About you:

  • 3-5 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
  • Have strong knowledge of 3D modeling best practices, particularly in OnShape or Solidworks.
  • Have experience working with product lifecycle management systems.
  • Are a hands-on engineer, well versed in quality control and testing/validation.
  • Have a desire to deeply understand the interactions of complex electromechanical products.
  • Have excellent written and graphical communication skills.
  • Have a Bachelor's degree in an applicable engineering field. (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, etc.)

Bonus points for:

  • Experience working with Altium or another PCB design software.
  • Aptitude for electronics and reading electrical schematics.
  • Experience working with pneumatic components and creating/reading pneumatic diagrams.
  • Have experience working in an ISO 9001 quality system or a regulated field industry like Aerospace or Medical Devices (e.g. an AS9100 or ISO 13485 quality system).
  • Have experience working with assembly technicians.

This role will be located in Lumafield’s Everett Facility. You may be required to travel occasionally to Lumafield’s other offices and/or customer sites.
