Davy Group is expanding in the UK and has recently moved into new offices on Gresham Street in the City of London, co-locating with our colleagues from Bank of Ireland Group, Davy Group’s parent.

About the role

An exciting opportunity has opened up in Davy’s UK Corporate Broking and Advisory team based in London. The team sits within Davy’s Capital Markets unit and works closely with Davy’s Institutional Group (comprising equity research, sales and trading teams) to provide corporate broking and corporate finance advice to UK listed companies and IPO candidates.

Davy has an excellent capital markets brand with high quality London- and Dublin-listed clients from FTSE 100 to Small Cap and strong deal credentials. The candidate will be working directly with a senior team in London that has experience across UK Corporate Broking, Corporate Finance, Equity Research and Sales, and from the outset will be closely involved in strategy, business development and client interaction. Over time, the candidate will be expected to build a broad advisory skillset spanning corporate broking, ECM and corporate finance execution.

In the role, the successful candidate will have responsibilities in the following areas:

Supervision and development of junior team members

  • Supervision, coaching, developing and motivating junior colleagues in all aspects of their work.
  • Leading the coordination of relevant and engaging client deliverables and pitch materials.
  • Leading the junior team on developing a suite of high-quality advisory materials and deliverables.
  • Contributing to a high performance, collaborative and client-focused team culture.

Day-to-day corporate broking and advisory

  • Day to day corporate broking advice and deliverables for London-listed corporates, including analysis and commentary on equity market conditions, investor activity and company equity story.
  • Investor relations advice including IR strategy, investor targeting and roadshow proposals.
  • Liaising with Equity Sales, Trading and Research to capture market and sector intelligence and investor feedback.
  • Lead responsibility in supervising and completing financial, valuation and shareholder analysis of listed companies.
  • Contributing to the management and enhancement of client and stakeholder relationships, including active participation in client and target meetings and dialogue.
  • Maintenance of knowledge of client companies, industries, markets, peer ECM and M&A transactions.

Transaction execution and advisory

  • Examining the strategic and financial merits of potential corporate transactions, including IPOs, secondary fundraisings and M&A.
  • Lead day-to-day transaction execution of projects and oversight of all project management workstreams in order to ensure high quality project execution is delivered for clients.
  • Acting as point of contact with client personnel and other advisers, and to provide considered advice and support on corporate finance advisory, regulatory and continuing obligations queries.
  • Reporting regularly to Lead Director on workstream status and key issues.

Business development and lead generation

  • Applying knowledge and insight of company personnel, business, industry and competitive landscape to contribute meaningfully to, and support, PLC advisory targeting.
  • Supporting senior team in researching, developing, preparing and delivering pitches to prospective clients and stakeholders for potential mandates.
  • Ability to confidently present to external audiences in client pitches and business development meetings – for example on Davy’s proposition, or to present analyst, views or ideas.
  • Sharing ideas and actively supporting firm-wide business development initiatives.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with third party advisors and service providers (e.g. law firms, accountancy firms, independent equity advisory firms).

Market and regulatory knowledge

  • Ability to confidently advise clients on market, technical and regulatory matters that arise.
  • Proactive sharing insights with immediate and broader Davy teams, as appropriate.
  • Building and maintaining personal and team knowledge of key regulatory regimes governing corporate finance transactions and PLC continuing obligations.
