Senior Engineering Manager

At Trunk Tools, we are tackling the massive $13 trillion+ construction industry. We’re an exceptional team of serial entrepreneurs, brought together by our shared mission: automating construction. Our founding team (SpaceX, Stanford, MIT, Carta, etc.) has successfully built and deployed software in construction for 140k+ users, millions of users beyond the construction space, and worked on +$2 billion of built-environment projects. We aren’t another out-of-touch tech startup, most of our team comes from construction.

We spent the last few years building the brain behind construction. Now we are deploying workflows/ agents, starting with Q&A document chatbot, to be ingrained in construction teams’ workflows, ultimately to automate construction. Given our immense traction with several Fortune 500 construction companies, we are doubling our team in order to deploy several more agents this year. You will have an opportunity to drive the transformation of a multi-trillion-dollar industry full of waste, risks and inefficiencies.

What you will do and achieve:

Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of full-stack engineers, ensuring their professional development and the alignment of their work with company goals.

Develop and Enhance Product Features: Oversee the building of new features and the expansion of existing functionalities.

Scale Our Systems: Guide the iteration of our architecture to support the growing needs of thousands of users, ensuring robustness, scalability, and future readiness.

Ensure Reliability: Ensure that our applications are reliable, user-friendly, and free from bugs,

providing an exceptional experience for our users.

Strategic Participation: Actively contribute to product strategy discussions, bringing innovative ideas and perspectives that could shape the future of our products.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other teams, including product management and design, to ensure seamless development and deployment of features.

Operational Excellence: Establish best practices and drive continuous improvement in development processes and methodologies.

Who you are:

Experience: 5+ years of work experience in full-stack development, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.

Technical Proficiency: Proficient in TypeScript, with extensive experience in backend development (Node + Express) and frontend development (React).

Database Knowledge: Comfortable with both relational and non-relational databases and experience in data schema modeling.

Product Delivery: Proven track record of shipping products to users and ensuring high-quality delivery.

Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills to effectively work in a team.

Independent & Efficient: Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and solve complex problems.

Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing engineering team.

Salary range: $160,000 - $210,000 / year + equity
