As a Data Product Manager, you will be responsible for driving the development, management, and delivery of data products, ensuring they meet customer needs and align with our business objectives. This position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams including data engineers, data scientists, data governance professionals, and platform engineers to bring data products to market. You will oversee the entire product lifecycle from ideation and prototyping to deployment and ongoing support, ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable, secure, and compliant with industry standards.

A successful Data Product Manager will be able to understand complex business challenges, lead the development of products that address those challenges, collaborate with the solutions team to translate the product vision into detailed technical requirements, align execution teams to product vision, and communicate results and progress to internal and external stakeholders, including senior management.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Strategy and Vision:

o Collaborate with the Director of Data and AI Solutions to define, articulate, and champion the vision, mission, and strategic roadmap for data products.

o Lead market research and competitive analysis to inform product strategy and uncover new opportunities in data management.

o Assess complex business challenges, recommending best-in-class practices to enhance and differentiate data products

o Develop and maintain a forward-thinking product roadmap that outlines the development and release schedule for data products

Product Development:

o Translate business requirements into detailed data product specifications and technical requirements.

o Work closely with data engineering, data science, governance, and platform teams to develop and launch data products.

o Prioritize features and enhancements based on customer feedback, market needs, and business goals.

o Work with steam to develop comprehensive documentation for data products, including user guides, technical specifications, and FAQs.

Lifecycle Management:

o Provide strategic oversight to the entire data product lifecycle, from ideation and prototyping to testing, deployment, and support.

o Understand the integration of data from various sources into data products

o Ensure products are scalable, reliable, secure, and compliant with industry standards and regulations.

Performance Monitoring:

o Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and impact.

o Analyze product performance data to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for optimization.

Stakeholder Engagement:

o Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, partners, and senior management.

o Regularly communicate product updates, strategic vision, and performance metrics to stakeholders, ensuring alignment and transparency

o Convey complex technical concepts with clarity and precision to non-technical stakeholders

Team Collaboration and Leadership:

o Lead and inspire cross-functional teams in the creation and delivery of data products, fostering collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to excellence.

o Collaborate with other product managers, solution architects, and business analysts to design high-impact data solutions.

Market Trends and Innovation:

o Continuously monitor and analyze trends and advancements in data architecture, data integration, and analytics ensuring the team remains well-informed and competitive in the rapidly evolving data management landscape.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Management Information Systems, Business, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in product management, business analysis, data engineering, data governance, data science, or a related field, with at least 3 years specifically focused on data products or data-driven initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of data technologies, integration, and architecture, including familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery), and data processing frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
  • Experience with BI Tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and data analytics, including data modeling, ETL processes, and SQL.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to effectively lead cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in advanced data analytics tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
  • Experience with advanced data analytics techniques, including machine learning, predictive analytics, and data visualization.
  • Experience implementing Medallion Architecture in cloud-based data platforms like Databricks.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and tools such as Azure DevOps.
  • Certifications in data management, product management, or related areas such as Certified Data Management Professional (CSMP)

Protective’s targeted salary range for this position is $119,500 to $151,015. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective’s total compensation package for employees.

This position also offers additional incentive opportunities through an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance.
