Job Description

Marcos Medical Care is an established and private-owned Internal Medicine clinic and Medical Spa. We are professional, agile, and customer-centric. Seeking an experienced medical biller for primary care clinic in North San Antonio. Candidate must possess experience billing in an outpatient setting. Responsible for the timely submission of medical claims and posting of Medicare and commercial insurance companies.

Job Duties:

• Knowledge of ICD-10 Medical Coding and Billing
• Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness and obtain any missing information
• Knowledge of insurance guidelines, especially Medicare and state Medicaid
• Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle time frame
• Check each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discount
• Call insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments if necessary
• Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances
• Answer all patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts
• Run reports to be able to effectively communicate to Practice Administrator status of Accounts Receivable
• Posts payments from insurance companies and patients

Requirements:

• 3 years of experience using ATHENA EMR system
• Ability to understand EOBs
• Strong knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and major private insurance payers
• 2 years of medical billing or medical collections, preferably primary care
• Knowledge of business and accounting processes
• High school diploma

Job Type:

• Full-time

Pay:

• $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
