Senior Advocacy Strategist

About the team:

This role is a new one within Advocacy & Partnerships to fill a gap in our rapid response policy development, create an institution-wide process for documenting and consolidating policy positions, and to take the lead on developing a policy agenda for Vera Action. This senior advocacy strategist will supervise the work of at least one analyst-level role within A&P and/or Vera Action. The senior advocacy strategist must have prior criminal justice policy and advocacy experience, deep familiarity with policy research and development, and, ideally a JD and a background in legal and statutory research. The senior advocacy strategist will take the lead on developing Vera’s policy positions and advocacy strategy on newly emerging issues that do not fit into any one national or place-based initiatives’ priorities but do have prominence in the national or local criminal justice debate (i.e., “migrant crime,” increased shoplifting and retail theft, carjackings, etc., are some issues that have emerged in recent months).
