Your role as a Head of Data Security (m/f/d)

We are looking for a manager to implement the necessary steps to ensure that BuildingMinds is at any time compliant with applicable data protection laws. Also, information security management system standards requirements must not only meet but also documented and managed. In this position, you will report to our senior management. You will be responsible to structure and coordinate the activities around our compliance with applicable laws (e.g. GDPR and others), and data security standards (e.g. ISO 27001 and others). You act as a point of contact to all internal stakeholders with exposure to data privacy and data security topics. You will also closely interact with our Information Security Officer, work on policies that enforce compliance with relevant legislation and deliver trainings to our staff to increase awareness of data protection and data security measures.

In detail you will:

  • You will “live and breathe” data protection laws and standards.
  • Ensure thorough understanding and adherence to data protection laws and standards, with a focus on documentation.
  • Take ownership and be accountable for data protection law and standard documentation.
  • Develop, monitor, audit, and enhance processes and procedures required for compliance with applicable data protection laws and standards, as they evolve.
  • Identify and evaluate BuildingMinds' data processing activities.
  • Conduct gap analyses and create compliance reports.
  • Participate in meetings with management and other stakeholders to ensure privacy by design at all levels.
  • Engage in Data Protection Officer interactions.
  • Maintain records of data processing operations.
  • Address queries from data subjects within the respective legal timeframes (e.g., for deletion of their information from our databases).
  • Liaise with third-party organizations that process data on our behalf.
  • Deliver data protection and security training to staff.

We would like to hear from you if you:

  • Hold a Bachelor's / Master's degree in Arts / Science.
  • Possess excellent English and German language skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Have strong knowledge of MS Office.
  • Are proficient in communicating with diverse management levels and other stakeholders (e.g., customers, employees, or other members of a company's management).
  • Have solid knowledge of data protection laws (e.g., GDPR) and other applicable data protection laws.
  • Possess solid knowledge of data security standards (e.g., ISO 27001) and other applicable standards.
  • Have at least 2 years of hands-on work experience in data protection and security, with a focus on documentation and ISO 27001 certification.
  • Ideally, have knowledge of data processing operations in BuildingMinds' sector.
  • Are familiar with computer security systems.
  • Are trustworthy, with high ethical standards, including the ability to remain impartial and report all non-compliance issues.
  • Possess outstanding organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Are a fast learner with high intrinsic motivation.
  • Are a great team player.
  • Have a business-oriented attitude.
