Job Purpose:
As an instructor you are expected to plan, organize and teach a wide a multitude of courses including Traffic Control Person (TCP), Lane Closure Technician (LCT), Automatic Flagging Device (AFAD) training and more that will aim to equip participants with essential skills for workplace safety in a manner that encourages learning and development through a
variety of teaching styles.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Training and Instruction:

● Conducts training and presentations for Traffic Control Person (TCP) Training,
● Conducts training and presentations for a variety of traffic related training (LCT, AFAD, etc.),
● Acts as TCP Instructor Assistant/LCT for on road practical portion of TCP training on an as needed basis,
● Conducts company orientations for new hires,
● Responds to students’ comments and/or questions.
● Evaluates student papers, tests, or other assessments to the UHS standard.

Learning Environment Management:
● Maintains a civil, productive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
Course Material and Curriculum Management:
● Reviews and updates course material as necessary.
● Prepares lesson plans, classes, and classroom equipment.
● Conducts curriculum and materials development for the assigned course as needed.

Administrative and Organizational Tasks:
● Ensures all class files are completed before handing them in.
● Ensures classroom tidiness.
● Restocks classroom and equipment.
● Reviews internal stock inventory for classes.
● Assists in the development of internal traffic related courses (LCT, AFAD, Customer Service, etc.)

Safety Audits and Mentorship:
● Conducts Safety Audits/Mentorship for Field staff when not teaching.
Qualifications
● Must have a vehicle and Class 5 driver’s license
● Must have Provincial Instructor Diploma Program (PIDP) Certification

Working conditions

● This position will require work outside of a normal office environment.
● May require occasional weekend hours
● Travel will be required.
Physical requirements
● This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 50 pounds.
● This position requires prolonged kneeling/stooping and standing.
