Data Scientist

Leverage multiple complex and large-scale datasets to provide key business insights, develop data-driven software products, and enhance Vista Group outcomes.

Work closely with cross-functional team members to research, prototype, implement, and validate cutting edge Machine Learning (ML) algorithms and applications to improve the effectiveness, and ease of use, of Vista Group’s targeting, segmentation, and measurement products.

Provide mentorship to junior data scientists and interns to ensure they are well integrated, trained and supported.

Key Responsibilities

Product:

• The continuous improvement of Vista Group’s existing product suite, helping to deliver meaningful insights, reporting and automation to our customers
• Research, design, and develop prototype ML features and software solutions
• Assist with implementation of Group products and systems, applying software engineering principles and industry standards
• Provide guidance and expertise regarding the design, implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of ML-based software and systems throughout the company
• Proactively seek new insights and product opportunities within our global database of cinemagoers
• Closely collaborate with the Product and Design teams, prototyping next generation products, services and features

Marketing:

• Support the Marketing team to deliver data driven insights and analysis for thought leadership initiatives

Professional Services:

• Support our international professional services team on a project basis, delivering insights and analysis of moviegoer behaviour

Requirements

• PhD degree in a quantitative field – A masters degree plus a strong industry record is also welcome
• At least 2 years' experience in a data scientist position
• Excellent programming skills in Python
• Proficiency in data access and processing tools (SQL, Spark, Pandas, DuckDB)
• Proficiency in machine learning concepts, techniques and libraries (Sklearn, XGBoost, Tensorflow)
• Proficiency with data visualization libraries/tools (i.e. Matplotlib, Plotly, Tableau)
• Familiarity with software engineering best practices
• Exposure to MLOps concepts and platforms
• Exposure to LLMs and Natural Language Processing
• Exposure to causal analysis concepts and tools
• Ability to work across several large and complex data-sets
