Regional Category Manager

Purpose of the Job:

Working under the direction of the Global Category Manager, the Regional Category Manager is responsible for directly contributing to the development and delivery of a Category vision, strategy and associated detailed plans for the delivery of the agreed global and regional strategic objectives. This will have a strong focus on support the delivery of local savings targets. In doing so shall build strong relationships with key regional site and group stakeholders to ensure that their needs are considered as part of the strategy building process. They will be leading major global & regional sourcing projects using a robust project management mindset. Will lead the relationship management of regional suppliers and the development of suppliers in region.

Key Responsibilities and Outcomes:

Strategy Development

• Actively seek, review and understand regional site/factory needs ensuring they are captured and considered as part of Category Strategy and Strategic Sourcing Plans

• Support work to secure buy in from local leadership teams, as well as Procurement Function leadership

• Contribute to a global category strategy and plan that defines the Total Cost of ownership improvement projects by site and category to meet business targets

• Active monitoring of potential future technology and suppliers to support evolution of the Rotork product and supply base

Project Delivery

• Full adherence to the Global Strategic Sourcing Gated Process in identifying, scoping, implementing and delivering Category strategic sourcing projects, in conjunction with a detailed Procurement Plan, and ensuring site level stakeholder support throughout

• Support the implementation of Design for Manufacture (DfM), Design to Cost (DtC), Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and Should Costing workshops and tools to support the identification and evaluation of cost and performance improvement projects for Rotork’s suppliers

• Full adherence to the Global Strategic Sourcing Gated Process in identifying, scoping, implementing and delivering category strategic sourcing projects, in conjunction with a detailed Procurement Plan, and ensuring site level stakeholder support throughout

• Working with the Regional Sourcing Manager be engaged in the design of the sourcing strategy and inputs to the Rotork New Product Development process relevant to the Region

• Development and execution of RFIs and RFPs to support legacy and new products

• Work with the regional sourcing manager to implement specific pricing agreements / lists to minimise price volatility

Regional Supplier Relationship Management

• Lead Supplier relationship management for relevant strategic and preferred suppliers in region and support SRM for global category vendors

• Work closely with the Supplier Development and Quality Team to be aware of Supplier Performance across all regional sites (QCD, Lead-times and Inventory)

• Monitor and intervene in consistent Key Supplier Performance issues as flagged by regional site teams (in conjunction with the SDQE and Supply Chain Teams).

• Actively monitor and manage key Category Risks and Opportunities to regional sites and across the Rotork supply base

Requirements

Qualifications & Technical knowledge:

Essential

• Degree in Business Administration or Engineering – or equivalent

• 5+ years Procurement related experience

• Previous Category & project management experience in specific to Category role

• Global Sourcing experience in mechanical categories, particularly castings and machining

• Project management experience

• Advanced knowledge of full Microsoft Suite (especially Excel).

• Worked within a matrix organisation

• Familiar with a manufacturing environment

• High proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese
