When PNC Bank serves as the executor of an estate or trustee of a related estate settlement trust, a PNC estate settlement officer manages all aspects of the administration of the estate and trust assets—whatever they may be—in accordance with the governing documents and applicable law. These tasks include: hiring outside legal counsel and other professionals; securing, collecting, valuing, managing, liquidating, and distributing all assets a decedent may have owned, both real estate and personal property, tangible and intangible; management of court filings, tax filings, and other legal documents as needed in the administration of an estate or trust; resolving all claims against an estate; and general family and beneficiary communications and relationship management. A successful estate settlement officer has a broad yet technical skillset with strengths in problem solving, written and verbal communication, accounting for assets under administration, collaboration with internal and external partners, and most importantly, the ability to navigate the complications and surprises inherent in taking over the affairs of the recently deceased, with an always unique combination of assets, family dynamics, business affairs, and other surrounding circumstances, all while also consistently and systematically organizing and administering the estate’s assets.

Responsibilities:

• Provides every aspect of estate administration and related relationship
management services to an assigned book of estates and related trusts;
• Oversees discovery and marshaling of assets owned by estate and estate
settlement trust, wherever located, and coordinates asset appraisal,
management, and resolution of claims against the estate or trust;
• Identifying and navigating issues arising with more complex estate and trust
assets, the full spectrum of special assets (e.g., closely held business
interests, real estate and mineral interests, contractual rights and intangible
assets, art or other valuable collectibles, digital assets);
• Engage outside professionals (attorneys, accountants, appraisers,
auctioneers) as needed in order to administer assets of an estate, including
overseeing court filings for probate estate administration as necessary in a
particular state;
• Oversees the preparation by tax return preparers of appropriate tax returns
(income, gift, estate and inheritance, and fiduciary) and court or other state-
required filings for the estate and the decedent;
• Provides fiduciary decision making by ensuring account administration
consistent with the terms of governing documents (wills and trust
agreements);
• Manages family and beneficiary relationships and oversees and facilitates
distributions as provided by the governing documents;
• Supports PNC Bank’s estate settlement business both internally and with
outside centers of influence in growing future estate settlement opportunities
and providing consultation with PNC Bank clients regarding estate settlement
services; and
• Serves as a point of technical expertise when working with internal PNC
colleagues from other lines of business.

••Juris Doctor, accounting degree, business degree, and/or experience with
estate or other fiduciary administration strongly preferred.

The position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at the manager’s discretion.
