We invite you to join us on a critical and exciting mission! Your job will be to be the technical guiding light for a GenAI team tasked with establishing Generative AI video services for all OLX customer units (Motors, Real Estate, Goods, Jobs, and Services).

This is a unique opportunity! You will be part of a strategic movement inside the company, working on a team built from scratch! A team that will break through walls and build cross-functional connections with everyone around. A team where a common mission and goals matter more than reporting lines. Your job will be to provide technical guidance to a team of 4-5 Data Scientists and a Machine Learning Engineer. The team will be focusing on building and deploying disruptive Generative AI video services at scale across all OLX platforms. The solution should be capable of generating beautifully designed videos based on user-provided content in a cost-efficient manner. You will be responsible for fueling the team with technical inspiration and mentoring the team members to explore and grow on the newest technologies. The overall goal is to ensure that ideas either are deployed to all users or die in production not surviving the validation. Iterate quickly, fail fast, learn, and improve. The power is yours! P.S. In your day-to-day routine, you will be encouraged to not only mentor your team members but also to research state-of-the-art machine learning in the area of LLMs and GenAI, all using Python and the AWS cloud. You will be exposed to key stakeholders, and have direct contact with internal customers. You will have the carte blanche to experiment and test things. And, most importantly, you will also witness how your work impacts the day-to-day business of our customers.

You will also be a mentor and a thought leader for the practice of Data Science and Analytics across the organizations that constitute OLX, finding opportunities to have an impact not only for the business and our users but also for the community of Data Scientists spread across our hubs.

What you will be doing:

• Work in the Data Science team, focusing on LLMs and GenAI, from a platform and marketplace perspective.
• Leading projects and initiatives done in collaboration with local Data Science and Data Engineering teams.
• You will maintain strong relationships with stakeholders. This means asking a lot of questions to business people and translating their requirements into achievable projects. It also means collaborating with other teams, like infrastructure and data engineering to get things done in an elegant and timely manner.
• Work with Product Analytics to track the KPIs of different ML use cases and measure the impact on our customers.
• Partner with the Experimentation team to integrate the KPIs and their proxies into the Experimentation (A/B testing) platform.
• Working hands-on and driving from technical side data science efforts in fields like trust and safety, deal prediction, search, and monetization.
• Helping to formulate data science solutions in order to improve business jointly with product managers and engineers.
• Ensuring successful achievement of research and development objectives through stakeholder management and mentoring of more junior Data Scientists.
• Working on optimizing the models according to the requirements of the specific use case and collaborating with other team members to bring in production and scale machine learning solutions.
• Measuring the impact of your models against company goals.
• Working in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software against schedules.
• You will work in multi-functional teams, in a diverse, multinational environment, filled with people from Portugal, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.

Who are we looking for:

• You must be located in Spain
• Very strong analytical skills. Like really strong! So strong that truth and light are your two middle names.
• Good knowledge of Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives that drive scalable impact.
• An eye for proactively identifying opportunities for impact in multiple domains and in collaboration with multiple teams.
• Ability to envision the future and articulate it to a broad community of Data Scientists and other key stakeholders.
• A deep understanding of machine learning techniques and experience applying them to solve customer/business problems.
• Track record in leading cross-functional initiatives that span across the organization.
• Industry experience creating and productionizing machine learning algorithms at scale.
• Excited by the chance to directly impact the daily experience and happiness of millions of people around the world by matching supply and demand.
• Experience with Tensorflow or other deep learning frameworks.
• A strong engineering background with good knowledge of Python and exposure to one more programming language (Kotlin, Java, etc), as well as engineering best practices.
• Experience writing SQL queries and handling large amounts of data.
• Proficient in English with excellent written and oral communication skills!
• Strong presentation skills.
• Able to work in diverse, multi-functional teams with people from different backgrounds.

Nice to have:

• Experience with cloud-based tools for production use (e.g., AWS Athena, AWS Sagemaker, AWS Spectrum, AWS Kinesis) or equivalent.
• Experience building large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines with open-source data processing frameworks like Spark.
• Experience with platforms for programmatically authoring, scheduling, and monitoring workflows (e.g. Apache Airflow).
• Experience driving initiatives such as Tech Radar for Data Science and interacting with external groups (e.g. Amazon ML Solutions Lab or similar) to formulate and progress the Data Science Tech agenda
