LOCATION: Hybrid – Massachusetts (Boston)

SALARY: $105,000

OVERVIEW

The CDC Foundation seeks a Public Health Workforce Development Engagement Manager to promote health equity and wellness across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. As a key collaborator within the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MA DPH), you will work alongside senior leadership and staff to define, implement, and evaluate workplace culture and engagement initiatives. Your expertise will envision, drive, and implement strategies that support the emotional, mental, and physical well-being of our workforce, ensuring a balanced and fulfilling work-life experience for all.

The Public Health Workforce Development Engagement Manager supports the public health workforce by collaborating with MA DPH staff to define, communicate, implement, evaluate, and support a positive workplace culture. This position consults with senior leadership and staff to implement and evaluate workplace culture and engagement initiatives that are effectively embedded in practices, sustained appropriately, and continue to meet the needs of MA DPH.

In this role, you will be at the forefront of driving change, coordinating with various stakeholders to embed practices that enhance workplace resilience, diversity, equity, and inclusion. From facilitating critical discussions to identifying opportunities for professional growth and development, you will play a pivotal role in shaping a supportive and inclusive environment. Major areas of responsibility will include but are not limited to: Community Connection, Employee Engagement, Professional Development and Opportunity for Growth, and Work Environment & Resilience. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have at least:

A.Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time, professional, professional internship, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in: Business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management, or

B.Any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions is below.

Substitutions:

I.A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.

II.An Associate’s degree in a related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.

III.A Bachelor’s degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.

IV.A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required experience.

V.A Doctorate degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

•Demonstrated commitment to the department’s goals and values by reinforcing the priorities of health equity that explicitly center racial equity, demonstrating inclusivity, and bringing diversity of thought, critical thinking skills, and experience.

•Demonstrated understanding of social determinants of health and a commitment to health equity, particularly racial equity, and psychological safety.

•Experience supporting workforce development through health, wellness, and resilience programs to promote employee engagement and retention in the workplace.

•Experience developing and using project management tools, including work plans, tracking tools, and reporting.

•Ability to analyze and determine the applicability of data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.

•Ability to facilitate groups, provide technical assistance, and organize events related to employee engagement in person and virtually.

•Understanding of adult learning principles and practices, especially in the areas of workforce well-being, psychological safety, racial equity, and trauma informed people management.

•Knowledge of the Massachusetts Public Health workforce, including unique needs and challenges of this population as well as professional networks.

•Understanding of communication principles in social media and organizational publications to foster employee participation and engagement.

•Ability to build and maintain relationships across large, complex, and dynamic government organizations and systems.

•Awareness of state contracting and accounting practices.

•Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

•Collaborate with DPH bureaus, offices, and hospitals to define a shared culture rooted in the department's mission and values.

•Communicate workforce priorities and strategic vision to foster shared awareness and understanding.

•Coordinate racial equity, resilience, well-being, and wellness programming in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

•Connect with state-wide health equity strategists to incorporate best practices in racial equity.

•Represent DPH in internal and external working groups to advance organizational goals.

•Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration to enhance employee engagement and support.

•Utilize organizational change knowledge to inform strategic employee engagement initiatives.

•Coordinate with training units to provide ongoing professional development opportunities.

•Lead the development and implementation of employee well-being strategies.

•Gather and analyze workforce data to inform decision-making and grant reporting.

This role is involved in a dynamic public health program. As such, roles and responsibilities are subject to change as situations evolve. Roles and responsibilities listed above may be expanded upon or updated to match priorities and needs, once written approval is received by both the CDC Foundation and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health in order to best support the state of Massachusetts in their public health programming.

This position is currently a hybrid position. CDC Foundation retains the right to make adjustments to this as required.
